Dollars for Scholars 2018-2019 Tips for Lake Worth High School Seniors<\/strong><\/h3>\n

We are excited to announce that seniors with a\u00a02.5 GPA<\/u><\/em><\/strong>\u00a0or higher can log on to\u00a0https:\/\/scholarshipamerican.org<\/a>\u00a0to create an account and start their application beginning November 1, 2018.\u00a0 The deadline to complete your portion of the application is March 8, 2019.\u00a0\u00a0This allows one week for your counselor to complete their portion before the final deadline of March 15, 2019. You will need your A14 screen and SAT\/ACT scores to complete the student portion.\u00a0 You will also need the \u201cEFC\u201d from your completed FAFSA to finish your application.\u00a0 Go to\u00a0www.fafsa.gov<\/a>\u00a0to complete the FAFSA.<\/p>\n

If you apply before January you will need to update your GPA and class rank and enter any new ACT\/SAT scores as you receive them.<\/p>\n

You will need to list your guidance counselor\u2019s name, email address and phone number on the application.\u00a0 You will also need to list a recommender.\u00a0 It will be best if you use your guidance counselor as the recommender.<\/p>\n

Under the \u201cEducation\u201d portion of the application, if you are in a Choice Program include it under \u201cOther\u201d.\u00a0 This may help you be selected for a scholarship.<\/p>\n

In the essay portion labeled \u201cGoals\u201d write 4-5 sentences about your goals.\u00a0 Explain completely but be brief.\u00a0 Around 50 words is what is preferred.\u00a0 In the section labelled \u201cUnusual Circumstances\u201d write about 50 words, only if you are facing a serious challenge that others might not have.<\/p>\n

There are three different scholarships that you can choose from to apply for this year.\u00a0 One is the \u201cGeneral Academic Scholarship\u201d.\u00a0 This is for students who want to get a 4 year college degree.\u00a0 The second is the \u201cBarry Grunow Scholarship\u201d.\u00a0 This is for students that want to earn a college degree to be a teacher.\u00a0 The third is the \u201cVocational\/Technical Scholarship\u201d.\u00a0 This is for students that want to get a certificate in a vocational area such as culinary, firefighting, cosmetology, etc.\u00a0 You can only apply for one of the scholarships using the drop-down arrow.<\/p>\n
